Endodontic FAQ's

This is one of the most common endodontic FAQs. Diagnosing oral and facial pain can be very complex.  Dr. Karmali wants to spend the time to determine if endodontic therapy (root canal treatment) is best for you.  This helps us ensure that you are getting the ideal treatment for your unique situation.   The evaluation appointment also gives us the opportunity to customize your treatment and make sure that we have answered all of your questions.

Your comfort is of the utmost importance to us.  We will take every measure to ensure that your procedure is painless and comfortable.  We schedule ample time for each treatment so that Dr. Karmali can take an unhurried approach to your care.  We take great pride in our ability to set you at ease.

Don't worry, you are not alone, this is always at the top of the list of endodontic FAQs. Many people are apprehensive about receiving dental care and we understand.  We offer a medication that can be taken orally prior to your treatment appointment.  This medication will significantly reduce your anxiety.  Since this medication will make you sleepy, you will need a responsible adult to drive you.

If this medication is right for you, Dr. Karmali can discuss it in more detail during the evaluation appointment.

The fee for your endodontic treatment will be based on the extent of treatment. During your first visit, we will discuss the probable number of visits, their length, and the fees involved.  Endodontic fees usually start from about $1200.   Because of the unique nature of our practice and the specialized kinds of cases we treat, it is our policy that your care is paid for at the time of treatment.   If you have dental insurance, we will submit all of your paperwork to maximize your benefits. To improve your access to our high-quality care, we offer interest-free financing on approved credit.  We accept most major credit cards and checks.

If you have dental insurance, we will make it easy for you to receive the maximum amount of reimbursement available to you.

Endodontists are dentists who specialize in maintaining teeth through Endodontic Therapy, this is also known as root canal therapy.

All dentists are trained in diagnosis and endodontic therapy.  Some teeth, however, can be especially difficult to diagnose and treat.  That's why you have been referred to Dr. Karmali.

In addition to dental school, Dr. Karmali received three more years of advanced education.   He studied root canal techniques and procedures in greater depth, enabling him to diagnose and treat more difficult cases.  For this reason, many dentists choose to refer their patients to Dr. Karmali.

Another one of the super common endodontic FAQs.  Our priority is to make your root canal treatment painless.  If you are nervous, we can give you medication to reduce your anxiety.   The inside of the tooth will be meticulously cleaned, disinfected, and sealed.  The number of visits is customized to give you a predictable and pain-free experience.  To Dr. Karmali, it's more important to do the root canal treatment carefully instead of quickly.  Dr. Karmali's careful approach has earned him the reputation of saving teeth that otherwise would have required extraction.

A lot of Dr. Karmali's practice is retreating root canals that are not working.  When done carefully, he can often save you from extraction and expensive replacement.  Retreatment starts with a comprehensive evaluation.  Root canal retreatment can then be customized to give you a very high success rate.
